Rants from a Jamaican British Woman

I laughed until my sides split yesterday. Someone had an affair with John Prescott. God she must love money and power. I can only think that he must have looked somewhat different when Mrs Prescott first clapped eyes on him. As for Blair, will there be anyone left to stand by him when his little autocratic world start to crumble around him?

I received a lenghty email about the introduction of identiy cards from a well meaning friend. The email warned of the absolute infringement of our civil liberties. Unfortunately, I too have gone from the 'say no' brigade to the 'what the hell brigade'. This government has introduced so many draconian measures since they came to power, nothing is going to stop them now. As far as I am aware, they already know what time of day I go to the toilet. I only have to make an innocuous telephone call to check the status of a payment, and a lovely young lady in India or Ghana with a little detail like my postcode seem to know more about me than I know about myself. I don't believe any of the goverment claims as to what it will prevent, e.g. terroriost attacks, fraud etc. Frankly I would truly welcome it with open arms if it really could prevent some maniac blowing me or anyone else up or stealing my identity or defrauding or claiming things that they are simply not entitled to, but somehow I don't believe that this is the object of the exercise. I have a nasty feeling that 10 years after the introduction of identity cards, the frauders will have devised some fail safe way of copying every bit of information on them even it means digging out people's eyeballs in order to photograph them and stick their names on it. I personally have long considered my civil rights eroded, even though in my fifty odd years of life I have never committed a crime, not knowingly anyway. My problem is that I am Black, so I've never really had civil rights. I get photographed and stopped regularly when coming through airports. I am Black with dreadlocks. I don't do drugs of any kind including cigarettes, but I am Black with dreadlocks. I don't care to hide the fact that I am Black and I have nothing else to hide, so frankly, the government can introduce whatever they like. I will not ever vote for a labour government again as long as its headed up by Blair and his righteous band hyprocritical men and women, so I for won't be assisting him with his latest gimmick.
