So National Insurance contribution is going up. I don't have a problem with that. I do believe if we want better public services we have to pay for it. My only worry is, this might just be a devious method of government making sure it gets enough money in the budget for the next war it decides to take us into.
Council Tax has also gone up by a wacking great 29point something per cent. For me, after deductions for being statistic, single occupier it means I now have to pay £985.46 this year. Wouldn't mind that either, if I actually got a service. My recyling bin has been emptied for the first time in 2 years, and that was only because I decided to complain. A few weeks ago, my wheelie bin was not emptied, because there was a car in the way. Clearly it would have been going beyond the call of duty to pull the bin through a gap somewhere. I can't find a parking space in my street. My local high street is strewn with spit and rubbish of mixed variety. When I do see the street cleaner or street engineer as such workers are now known, the one who does my street usually gives a very credible impression of an all too idle snail who had little wish to peek out from it's shell.
That I suppose leave policing, education, etc. Would love to see a bobby on the beat. Perhaps if they were a little more present, ordinary people could be enabled to reclaim those streets that we keep being told are lost to Yardies!! Education, Well I don't know what going wrong there, schools are still under-resourced, teachers underpaid and overworked. And I definitely know, it's not going to the firemen. Must all be going to the war effort.
Also got a little note from the gas board today to tell me that their charges are going up. Why don't I just ask for my salary to be paid direct to my local council, and they can share it out between themselves and the amenities? Would save me the bother writing cheques and buying stamps.

Geoff Hoon, the defence minister tells us that weapons of mass destruction will definitely be found in Iraq. I am sure they will, and my guess is that the most likely source weapons for such weapons will be the Americans. The American administration always knew that the Iraq army was made up of a 'mish mash' of men with antiquated weapons. They always knew that a war with Iraq would be a no contest. The American regime has lied and lied. Now it is up to that regime to convince the world's public that anything they do find in the near future in Iraq has not been placed there by their own manipulating, self-serving and devious hands.
How can anyone believe what the America regime says. They tell us they are going in as liberators! It is invaders and conquerers who put up flags in other people's countries and who rename other nations property without recourse to the people. The American's and lets not forget the British are treating the Iraq's like a bunch of simpletons, incapable of having any input/ideas about their own future. It is the same ploy that has been employed in Africa, Asia and other parts of the world. The arrogance of Bush and frankly the gross stupidity of Blair. Of course Bush is being wounded up from behind the scenes by powerful interest groups. Bush ain't got no sense, but he is arrogant and greedy and a great puppet for the interest groups which barely interested in anything Blair has to say.
Oh yes, lets all burst our sides laughing. Bush has gone to Belfast to discuss the peace process. Well I suppose it makes some kind of bizzare sense, after all the American's have had their grimmy little hands in that pie too, having supported so-called terrrorist in Northern Ireland for years. It is logical, isn't 'make war' then pretend you want to 'make peace'.
