Isn't it interesting how the Government is sitting back and watching the housing market spiral out of control? With interest rate at rock bottom, people are being persuaded to take out vast mortgages and to borrow up to the hilt to make their newly aquired properties into palaces. Of course many will sell their properties and make a killing, many won't ever realise the benefits. Governement and mortgage lenders and banks are in a win win situation. When the housing market finally crashes as it inevitably will, Government, mortgage companies and the banks will all be winners. By the way anyone out there interested in purchasing a small, rickety gardening shed? It's a bargain at £130,000. You will have running water when it rains, and toilet facilities, well anywhere in the garden will do. I was thinking that with the current trend in property prices in this country. Children living at home, should be able to save up enough money by the time they are 45 years-old to put a deposit on £600,000 one-bed-flat. Hopefully by the time they are 55 they will be be able to buy a larger flat or house and start a family. Unless of course you happen to be the child of a minister, then you should be able to move to your own flat, purchased for you by your adoring and indulgent parents by the time you start university. If you promise to work really hard at university they may even buy two flats, one where they can stay when they visit you, or perhaps you could just put up your friends in the second flat.

Finding time to blog has been difficult of late. I am still worried about the impending war. I don't want to talk about it, but I can help it. Anyway it is going to happen, just as all the 'naive, anti-war, pro saddam' people have been asserting. Of course most of us are neither 'naive, anti-war or pro saddam'. We just know that this war is wrong, immoral, and unjust. Can you believe now imminent Government Ministers are accusing the our fire fighters of being pro saddam. Having made the decision to divert millions of pounds to fight an unnecesary war, Ministers are still expecting our fire fighters and other public sector workers to work for a pittance. It seems to me they should have thought about who is going to be left to fight fires and deal with other emergencies, before commiting two-thirds of the army to swelter in the dessert waiting to fight a bloody war.
